Welcome to Part Two of “101 things to send him when he’s deployed.” In March, we tweeted about sending him something for St. Patrick’s Day. Don’t forget to integrate the holidays into your care package planning. Sure, you may not be planning a pub crawl on March 17, but reminding him of what’s going on at home is a thoughtful gesture. Items 11-21 bring up another good point. Never underestimate the power of the Dollar Store. If you send your packages frequently, take advantage of the generic, more affordable alternatives you’ll find there.
11. St. Patrick’s Day Edition: Lucky Charms. They’re magically delicious
12. Gold Bond body/foot powder or an affordable alternative from Dollar Store
13. Crystal Light or Special K Protein Water drink mix.
14. A journal. Great tool for privately expressing emotions,
15. A favorite condiment like Texas Pete Hot Sauce? My guy wanted Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette.
16. Dryer sheets, which can go everywhere – in packs and trunks to help things smell fresher.
17. CD mix of songs you fell in love to. Make a note in the car when you hear one on the radio.
18. Paperback books. Books-A-Million has great recommendations
19. If you share a fave magazine, tag your commentary with Post-Its. I loved doing this with GQ
20. Postcards of home or your fave vacation spots. Wonderful, cheap trip down memory lane.
21. Homemade rice krispies treats. Nothing says “lovin’” like treats homecooked from the oven.
