Online resume resources you need now

I almost can’t bear the site of a paper resume. They are so outdated. Paper resumes make you think of paper file folders in which you organize such documents to banish to file cabinets , which you open twice a year. Paper resumes and traditional portfolios just don’t scream “hire me.” Instead, utilize online resources to demonstrate that you are a few steps ahead of your competition. Employers notice candidates who go above and beyond and really embrace the concept of professionalism. If you are going to give 110% on the job, your resume and portfolio are the first demonstrations of that.

LinkedIn - This is the very least of the online resume resources you should have. LinkedIn is not only great for posting your resume, but you can network with former and current colleagues and business associates, get recommendations to raise your profile, join alumni and professional groups and add special features like blog feeds, slides and more. Take advantage of all these features to create a well-rounded profile that really showcases you as a professional.

Visual CV – Visual CV integrates your online resume with your online portfolio offering a fully customizable, media-rich site that is as attractive as it is informative. With the ability to add documents, audio and video files, Visual CV realy takes a traditional portfolio to the next level.

Twitter – Witness the minimalistic approach to resume writing! Note that this approach may not fly if for instance you’re looking for a job in a bank, but this level of creativity will turn the heads of tech companies, ad agencies and the like.
